We love a traditional Easter Egg, however these 10 Easter Eggs Decorating Techniques will definitely give a fresh new take to your tradition.
Easter is right around the corner and one staple for celebrating Easter is the egg hunt ( and the bunny of course), so grab your family and come try out these 10 ways to to decorate your Easter eggs.
Dyeing
You can find kits that has everything you need to prepare the dye or you can make your own. To make your own you will need,
- 1/2 cup of boiling water
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 10-20 drops of food coloring.
Mix all the ingredients together and dip in dye for about 5 minutes.
Decoupage
Decoupage is the use of tissue paper or napkins anything of that texture.
Cut or rip them into small pieces and use diluted white glue to get it to stick. Be creative and have fun. Add some layers.
Marbeling
You can use nail polish or create your own concoction using shaving cream and food coloring. If you decide to use nail polish mix in the bowl with water then dip the eggs in the water. Wallah! It’s marbeled.
Pysanky
Pysanky is a Ukrainian tradition also known as wax resist is when you use wax to produce intricate designs on the egg. You coat the egg with wax using a stylus leaving the areas you want the design to show uncovered. Dip your egg in the dye and the wax will be removed and the design will be revealed.
Painting
You can use acrylic paint or watercolor. Show your family your inner artist. Draw an animal , your favorite logo, your favorite Easter candy, or just a abstract design will do as well. Remember to have fun with your designs.
Sparkles
Coat the egg and glue and rub it with glitter and sparkles. Make it look like a disco ball lol. Get a little funky with the colors. If you’re doing an Easter egg hunt, this egg should be the “BIG PRIZE” egg.
Tie-Dye
To get the tie-dye effect you will have to use string to wrap the egg. Rubber bands may work but you just have to be extremely careful. Once done dip it in dye. The parts that was covered with the string/rubber band is what’s going to give it the tie-dye effect.
Natural Materials
Go outside or to the store and grab flowers, leaves etc. This technique is really unique for Easter eggs. You can use Mod Podge to get the items to stick. This is the one for you if you’re really into natural things.
Embellishments
Dress the egg up like your taking it to prom lol no not really but yes. Use ribbons, lace, rhinestones and beads. This is the Barbie version of an Easter egg. Think Party!!
Etching
Now to achieve this look you have to be super careful so you won’t crack it. You have to dye the egg first then use a fine tip tool to scratch the outer layer so you can see the layer underneath it. Hey, if you can pull this off, maybe you’re destined to be a surgeon.
