I Know What You’re Thinking.
If you’re a makeup guru then you know exactly how nerve wrecking it is to wash your brushes. It’s not the actual fact that you have to wash them, but more so how many there is to clean.
However, having clean brushes will help you get that flawless application that you’re looking for. You know, the one your faves have! Yeah THAT ONE!
How Often Should You Wash Your Makeup Brushes?
I know some people who clean their brushes after every application. That maybe a lot for you so at least every 1-2 weeks is great. If you notice your makeup application isn’t going on as it usually does or it’s streaky, you might want to clean your brushes.
What Cleanser Should You Use?
First and foremost, make sure to choose an alcohol-free cleanser. It’s important that it doesn’t cause harm to your brushes. There are two cleansers that I live by and I think you would love them.
Why I Use Them?
Dawn Dish Soap: Dawn dish soap is honestly one of those items that’s good for everything. I’ve used it on my brushes countless times and they are still in great condition.
Cinema Secrets: You really don’t need to use much of this to get the job done. It has a slight vanilla scent and it gets the brushes like new in little to no time. I also love how fast the brushes dry.
How To Clean Brushes
Step 1: Gather all your brushes, your cleanser and a towel. Rinse brush under lukewarm water, focusing on only the bristle part of brush (not the handle). Next put cleanse directly on brush or in palm of hand and swirl around until you see all the old makeup starting to come out.
Step 2: Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. I wash until my brushes run clean. Make sure you rinse brushes fully, we do not soap residue on our brushes. After fully rinsing, shape your brush into its initial shape and lay flat on towel or paper towel.
Step 3: Please allow 12-24 hours for your brushes to dry make sure to lay them flat the whole time while drying. Please do not use the brushes if they aren’t fully dry. You don’t want bad bacteria living all up in your brushes 🤮 (we’re trying to stay blemish free). After that take a clean towel with a little bit of soap or a disinfectant wipe and wipe the handles of your brushes off.
If You Want A Faster Way..
I recently purchased this new product an electric makeup brush cleanser. It’s perfect if you need your brushes to be clean and dry in a quicker time. 12 hours is a long time if you have a event to attend, so I definitely recommend this product if you are usually in a hurry or have a lot of brushes to clean. My brushes were clean and dry in about 15 mins. 10/10
